SHE’s on a Financial Journey –
10 Steps to Financial Independence
- SHE’sorganized…or
is SHE? The first step of your financial
journey is to get organized. Locating, updating and organizing all financial
documents in one place is important to allow you to be able to access
documents and information as needed. This will save you
time, help you feel in control and in the event that someone else has
to deal with your personal affairs it will be accessible. It doesn’t
matter, what you use, a box or cabinet is but the following documents
should be there and updated/filed as new documents arrive. Once you
have completed this, let’s move onto understanding where our money
goes.

- SHEknows…..or does
SHE? The second step of your financial
journey is to learn more about how you spend your money – where does
it really go? This might be a bit of shocker. Now that you have a better
understanding of where your money is going, we can move to the next
step and put this information into your spending and savings worksheet.

- SHEspending and savings
worksheet The third step of your
financial journey is to figure out how much money you earn and what
(hopefully) is left to save. Now that we know where we stand, this should
be a realistic picture of where your money goes, how much money is left
to provide security and position yourself to start saving for your future.
Now, let’s move to the next step and set goals for our future.

- SHEsets goals If you do not know where you are going, how can
you know when you get there, or even decide which route to take? Setting
goals is the next step in moving your plan forward. There should
be short-term and long term goals, each with a time frame and placed
in order of importance to you. Now, let’s move on as you may have
some questions on your mind.

- SHEwants to know - FAQs Knowledge is power,
SHEwants to know...here are some frequently asked questions
by our clients that might be on your mind too. Next, we need to find
a financial advisor to work with, and we will share some questions that
will be important to ask an advisor that you are considering working
with.

- SHEadvisor - 5 Questions
to ask when meeting with your advisor As
important as all the steps you have taken so far, selecting the right
advisor is vitally important. This relationship could be one of the
most important business relationships you will have so be sure you feel
the trust and confidence in this person. It is important that you feel
they have your best interests at heart and that they can relate to your
stage and experiences in life. Now, this is really getting to the fun
stuff...putting together your plan with your advisor.

- SHEplan - Developing
your own plan with your advisor.
Remember - No one plans to fail …. They fail to plan During this step, your advisor will gather the information (you have already completed a good part of this step, you are so ahead of the game!), complete a needs analysis, and then make recommendations. Remember this is your financial plan; it should make you feel in control and empowered - your financial resources are working together toward your financial independence. Also remember this doesn’t have to be complicated, it is important you understand it, are committed to it and its realistic for you!
- SHEsgotta work that plan - Commitment to work your plan – you and your advisor. Here's where the excitement starts; you have
a financial plan – it is yours – you did the research, shaped it,
built it and now we have to work it! Remember this process has only
been helpful if the plan is put into action and reviewed annually by
yourself and your advisor. Be sure to reassess at least once a year
to account for any changes in your life or economic conditions. Now,
let’s move on to the next step and see if our plan covers all the
areas to move us towards financial independence.
- SHEknows - SHE’s on
her way to financial independence Wow,
you made it, okay so you may not have everything on the
list in place, but if it
applies it should be part of your plan with a specific time frame for
action. If not, please revisit your steps and be sure it is not needed
in your plan. Let’s take a short quiz and see where we stand. This
is very exciting!
